Proper Drainage Is A Very Good Reason To Hire An Experienced Paving Contractor

One really good reason hiring an experienced paving contractor is a must is the reassurance that your new driveway will have the proper water drainage.

When you are having a new driveway surface installed it is very important that you consider how knowledgeable the paving company is at preparing the driveway to prevent water drainage. The base and slope of the driveway is very important for water to drain properly. If there is excess water that pools on the surface, the driveway will prematurely deteriorate.

Hiring an experienced paving company that understands how to pitch rainwater away from the driveway is an important factor when choosing a paving company.  Using the proper equipment for grading and sloping will help prevent water damage, including potholes, cracks, and heaving. We will prepare the surface of your driveway for appropriate water drainage.

Helpful Tips On How To Hire A Reputable Paving Company

It does not matter how big the paving project is, you want to be sure you are hiring a company that will do the very best work. If you are going to spend your hard-earned money to have your driveway paved, you want it to be done right and have longevity.  Here are some helpful tips on how to choose a reputable paving contractor.

A reputable company is usually busy and not out knocking on doors asking to pave your driveway. Be hesitate if someone comes soliciting you. Sometimes they will offer a discount if you pay cash. Or, even try to use leftover material from another job.
Do your homework before making a buying decision. Ask for references and talk to more than one customer. Find out if the paving contractor was easily reachable after the project was complete or if the paving company was missing and not available. Did the paving contractor stick to their quote or did they try to charge more than they estimated and the dollar amount that you agreed upon. Find out if the paving company was efficient, did they finish the project in a timely manner? Would they hire the paving company to do another job or would they recommend them to their family and friends? Is the paving company in good standing and respected in the community they are located in? More than likely if they give back or support the local community they will be known. Talk to the owner or supervisor in charge of the project so you know who will be working on site. It’s important for communication during the process and there needs to be a level of trust. Find out if their company is insured and stand behind their work. If the paving rates are a lot less than other paving companies, they may not have insurance. Then if something goes wrong your home-owners insurance would have to kick in. So, in the long run it would end up costing you more money and create headaches for you to solve the problem. Look at their website so you can see the paving projects they have completed. FA Wing Paving has a project page showing what type of work we do. You can get a pretty good idea of what type of work a company does by looking at their photos. Anyone can talk a good talk, but the proof is in the end result. Find out what they do for prep work. How do they prepare the base and what is their asphalt application? If a paver is trying to cut costs they may be skimping on the asphalt. Be sure the thickness of the pavement is agreed upon and in your proposal. Take a look at the equipment the paving company uses. It is really important that the paving company works with quality equipment. The tar needs to be the correct temperature. There needs to be enough crew members working on the paving job so the pavement can be laid quickly to prevent seams for water to form cracks. Having the right equipment will ensure the proper blanket of asphalt is laid down. There are different grades of asphalt with different percentages of recycled material. Low quality asphalt can affect the look and longevity of your pavement. Less recycled material will give you a better quality, longer lasting driveway.

When Is The Best Time Of Year To Pave A Driveway?

Common questions homeowners have about paving their driveway. A paving contractor can answer all your questions about paving and will schedule the perfect time to lay the asphalt in your driveway. The best time to pave would be spring through the fall. The best temperature is about 70 degrees and drying time varies according to how hot the day is. You cannot or should not have your parking lot or driveway paved in the rain. Rain will affect the quality of the project. The oils repel water and that means cracks or holes may form in the asphalt. Due to the mix cooling too quickly, most contractors will not pave during cold weather. You should wait one or two days to walk or drive on a new asphalt driveway. For driveways and parking lots that are being resurfaced, you should wait two to six hours before walking or driving on them.
